Ashram Self-Reliant Stays in Sydney

Green Leaves

The Ashram residency experience offers Siddha Yoga students the opportunity to deepen their sadhana by becoming immersed in the sacred atmosphere of the Ashram. This allows for in-depth practice and study of the teachings, rest, rejuvenation, contemplation and shared discussion.

Ashram Self-Reliant Stays 2024

Applications are now open for Siddha Yoga students who wish to stay at the Ashram in Sydney during 2024.

Stays at the Ashram are based on the Siddha Yoga Ashram Daily Schedule designed by Baba Muktananda and refined by Gurumayi. The schedule includes meditation, svadyaya, chanting, seva, and quiet contemplation. The practice of silence, Siddha Yoga study, sadhana circles and japa walks may be included. The Ashram, recently renovated, is surrounded by tranquil gardens and is within a short walk to the river parklands.

How Ashram Self-Reliant Stays Work

An Ashram self-reliant stay means that the resident/s do their own catering and cleaning.

An Ashram Stay may be for as little as one night and (generally) for a maximum of one month.  A stay may be by an individual or a group, such as a sadhana circle, a group of Siddha Yoga friends, or members of  a Siddha Yoga community from a particular location.

Ideally, applicants have had previous experience of Siddha Yoga Ashram living.

Expressions of interest are also welcome from experienced Siddha Yoga students who are interested in offering full-time seva and staying at the Ashram for longer than one month.

Requirements for Visiting Siddha Yoga Students

Please read the studentship requirements below before applying. In addition to these studentship requirements, applicants must have the physical ability to follow the Ashram Daily Schedule. For short-term Ashram stays, this includes offering approximately 2 hours seva per day. While the Ashram is now better able to accommodate people with limited mobility, these Ashram stays are self-reliant and self-catering. Participants therefore need to be able to manage their share of self-catering (purchasing, preparing, and serving of food as well as the cleaning up afterwards).

Siddha Yoga Studentship Requirements

  • Has participated in at least one Siddha Yoga Shaktipat Intensive

  • Has maintained at least one of the core Siddha Yoga practices (meditation, chanting, sevadakshina) for a minimum of at least one year

  • Understands seva as a spiritual practice

  • Demonstrates understanding of, alignment with, and commitment to the philosophy and culture of the Siddha Yoga path.
