Each year in August, we honor the sunrise of Shri Guru’s grace through the celebration of two Siddha Yoga holidays: the anniversary of Bhagavan Nityananda’s Solar Punyatithi and the anniversary of Baba Muktananda’s Divya Diksha.
With these celebrations, we pause to remember the significance of Bade Baba's and Baba’s attainments, their state, and their teachings. Divine grace, like the splendor of the sun, streams its benevolent rays through the Siddha Yoga lineage of Gurus. We can see the impact of their grace illuminating our lives and connecting us with the presence of God within ourselves and in all creation.
Bhagavan Nityananda’s Punyatithi, the 53rd solar anniversary of his passing, takes place on Friday, August 8. In celebrating this occasion, we chant the divine name of Nityananda, which means "eternal joy." Through chanting, we experience the essence of Gurumayi’s Message for 2014: the primordial sound, the subtle and sustaining vibration that lies at the core of our being.
We also acknowledge the light of Shri Guru’s grace manifesting through Bhagavan Nityananda's divine initiation of Baba Muktananda.
The 67th anniversary of Baba Muktananda’s Divya Diksha, the day he received shaktipat initiation from his Guru, takes place on Friday, August 15. In celebrating Baba’s Divya Diksha, we honor the blessing of shaktipat-diksha. Baba’s awakening made it possible for thousands of seekers worldwide to be awakened and discover in themselves the Heart—the deep and foundational center of stillness that supports our being.
Recognizing the transforming power of Shri Guru’s grace in our lives, we can honor this gift by rededicating ourselves with enthusiasm to the practices of Siddha Yoga sadhana.
During this month of August, please join us in regularly visiting the Siddha Yoga path website to study and contemplate the Siddha Yoga teachings and also to share your understanding and insights.
Let’s honor and celebrate Śrī Guru kṛpā kā sūryodaya—“the sunrise of Shri Guru’s grace”!
